Evolve and Elevate: The mistake we make with our past, Soul does not die, the toughest lesson people need to know about people.
Idea of the Week
The mistake we make with our past.
“The mistake we make is to turn upon our past with angry wholesale negation…
The way of wisdom is to treat it airily, lightly, wantonly, and in a spirit of poetry; and above all to use its symbols, which are its spiritual essence, giving them a new connotation, a fresh meaning.”
John Cowper Powys, Sunbeams
Lesson of the Week
Soul does not die.
Bhagavad Gita says:

When this body that has a soul is attacked by a weapon, then one should understand that the soul inside this body hasn’t died.
Soul is so negligibly small that it cannot be killed by any sort of material weapon.
The one that is killed or the one that is considered as dead is only body.
But this does not at any cost mean to normalize promoting of animal killing.
As per Vedic scriptures: No Jeev (creature) should be killed. And it does not mean that because the soul cannot be killed, so one can indulge and promote animal killing.
Killing of any Jeev (creature) is not acceptable and is as per the law and Bhagavad Vidhan (Creator) subject to punishment.
But Arjuna’s situation is an exception.
He has been commanded to go for the war as per the rules of Dharma and not out of insanity.
Inspiration of the Week:
The toughest lesson people need to know about people.
Baba Ram Dass explains beautifully the most important and toughest lesson we need to learn about people.
“When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees.
And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever.
And you look at the tree and you allow it.
You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.
The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this.’ That judgment mind comes in. And so, I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are.”
― Ram Dass
This gives a very fine understanding of the big truth that we all might belong to the same species but we don’t have the same genetics.
Karmas make us all different.
We come from different levels so none of us are the same.
The idea is not to sit under the toxic trees but to just find better and healthier trees that you feel comfortable sitting under without cutting the toxic ones.
Our bodies are the same but our souls are at different energy levels. We function differently because we all come from different stages of karma.
So, it is important to not look at people at the level of bodies but try to understand the souls so that we can understand the differences amongst all of us.
